The 5 Hidden Gems of Maryland
Baltimore is a unique and vibrant city, well-known for its historical significance, world-class cuisine, and top-rated sports teams. But you may not with some of Baltimore’s lesser-known attractions, which you can find all around the city. Here are five of Baltimore’s hidden gems.
Federal Hill Park

For one of the best views of Baltimore (without the crowds), visit Federal Hill Park. This historic park dates back to 1608 when Capt. John Smith, an English colonial settler, discovered the site during a voyage and referred to it as a “great red bank of clay.” In 1880, the city purchased Federal Hill and designated it as a public park.
The park offers stunning views of the Inner Harbor and downtown Baltimore. You can bring a picnic to enjoy on the rolling hillside or visit in the evenings to gaze at the stars. Federal Park offers several amenities, including a playground, basketball court, and picnic tables. The Flag Staff Plaza, a recent addition to the park, pays tribute to the history of Baltimore and the state of Maryland.
After you visit the park, spend some time browsing local shops or dining at one of the quality restaurants in the Federal Hill neighborhood. This charming community is home to many events, festivals, and street fairs, along with several museums and independent art galleries.

Baltimore Museum of Art Sculpture Gardens
While many people visit the impressive Baltimore Museum of Art, fewer know about the museum’s two sculpture gardens, which you can access with your free admission to the museum. Located on three acres, the sculpture gardens feature 33 works of art representing modern and contemporary sculpture over the last 100 years. An audio tour allows you to use your cellphone to learn more about each sculpture as you walk through this idyllic space.
The Alan and Janet Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden, which opened in 1980, contains 19 early modernist works by well-known artists, including Auguste Rodin and Alexander Calder. It also features a stone terrace and fountain, making it a place where you can enjoy a moment of peace and reflection amid Baltimore’s urban landscape. Below the Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden, you can stroll through the two-acre Ryda and Robert H. Levi Sculpture Garden, which houses 14 works from the late 20th century.
Location: 10 Art Museum Drive, Baltimore
Hours: Sculpture gardens are open from 10 a.m. to dusk Wednesday through Sunday, weather permitting.
Papermoon Diner
While retaining its hidden-gem status among tourists, the Papermoon Diner is a beloved institution by Baltimore locals. The first thing you’ll notice about the diner is its distinctive decor. Pez candy dispensers and colorful paintings line the walls, and you’ll encounter numerous mannequins throughout the restaurant. It’s impossible not to smile when you’re at the Papermoon Diner.
The diner’s quirky decor is matched only by the creativity of its menu. It serves a variety of mouthwatering breakfast items, such as the Big Dipper, which consists of two pieces of brioche French toast filled with eggs, powdered sugar, and syrup, and is served with home fries. For lunch or dinner, the restaurant offers salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, burgers, and pasta. Don’t leave without trying one of the diner’s signature milkshakes, which come in delectable flavors like caramel sea salt, bacon, peanut butter, and espresso.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Takeout and delivery options are available.
Jones Falls Trail
Baltimore has so many high-quality trails that you may have missed the Jones Falls Trail. If so, put it on your list of places to visit soon. The Jones Falls Trail is a moderately hilly trail that offers stunning views of both the urban landscape of the city and the forested hills of nature. The first part of the 11-mile trail goes past Baltimore landmarks, including Inner Harbor and Penn Station, and provides views of the downtown skyline and architecture. The other two parts of the trail offer more natural landscapes as they wind past vibrant gardens, dense woods, and meandering streams.
While walking, jogging, or biking along the trail, you’ll pass various sites, including the Maryland Zoo, the Cylburn Arboretum, and Druid Hill Park. There are blazes and signs to help you navigate the different parts of the trail, and you can access any part of it via the light rail or by parking nearby.
Location: Access the trail at various locations. Go online for directions and more information.
Hours: Open daily
Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum
The Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum may fly under the radar, but it’s no less impressive than the other world-class museums in the Baltimore area. Built in 1831, it is the oldest surviving railroad station in the country. It originally transported freight but added passenger service in 1857. Though it stopped functioning in 1972, local groups worked hard to restore the station so others could continue to learn about its role in Baltimore’s industrial history.
The museum, which is free to visit, has two levels featuring various exhibits, including the telegraph and ticketing office, a car house, and the freight agent’s living quarters. Two other buildings on the property offer additional insight into the station’s historical significance. In these buildings, you can view a replica of the track between Baltimore and Ellicott City and a 1927 caboose that operated on the rail line.
Location: 3711 Maryland Ave., Ellicott City
Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

This city lies in the Patapsco River Valley and is the site of some fascinating history. Peek Into the Past at Historic Oakland
Tucked away in a peaceful wooded area in downtown Columbia, the Historic Oakland mansion is one of the most beautiful settings in Howard County. The centerpiece of the Historic Oakland property is the manor house, a Federalist-style mansion built in 1811. Historic Oakland was the country home of Charles Sterrett Ridgely, who served as a speaker for Maryland’s House of Delegates during the early 1800s.
Today, Historic Oakland is the setting for meetings, special occasions, and community events for the residents of Columbia Town Center organized by the Columbia Town Center Community Association (TCCA). Landscaping on the mansion’s grounds contributes to a park-like setting that features grand Southern magnolia trees, boxwood, and rhododendron plantings that complement the mansion’s historic character.
While the facility is not accepting visits from walk-in guests at this time, Historic Oakland occasionally opens to the public for special events. Individuals and groups may also book private events by contacting the facility coordinator.

Howard County is home to two historic bridges representing Maryland’s contributions to rail transportation history.
Constructed in 1869, the historic Bollman Truss Bridge served the B&O Railroad’s operations. According to information from HistoricBridges.org, it is among the oldest metal bridges built in the United States. The bridge takes its name from engineer Wendel Bollman, who created its distinctive truss configuration. Spanning the Little Patuxent River at Savage Mill, the Bollman Truss Bridge, a National Historic Landmark, is a Howard County attraction that makes an ideal setting for a photo op.
Take a hike along the 4.6-mile Patuxent Branch Trail that transports hikers along the Patuxent River from Savage Park to Lake Elkhorn. Look for interpretive signs identifying points of interest along the way. Those walking the trail will also encounter the historic Pratt Through-Truss Bridge in Guilford. Built in 1902 to carry the Patuxent Branch of the B&O Railroad over the Little Patuxent River, the 83-foot, single-span structure provides a backdrop for photos amid the foliage of the surrounding landscape.

Our team at Koons Clarksville in Maryland rounded up the most notable features of both the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger to help you determine the best truck to meet your needs.

2022 Chevy Colorado
The 2022 Chevy Colorado serves as a mid-size pickup and boasts power, luxury, and function. The newest Colorado model aims to provide all your needs with a strong engine and luxury experience. Here’s a breakdown of the most notable features in the 2022 Chevy Colorado:
Trim Levels
The 2022 Chevy Colorado offers customers four trim levels to choose from. Trim levels include the WT, LT, Z71, and ZR2. You can also customize the configuration with each model and trim available as an extended cab/long bed model or a crew cab/short bed model.
Engine
The different trim levels and configurations available for the 2022 Chevy Colorado allow you to select from three available engines. Standard models include a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine while other models and trims have options for a 3.6L V6 engine or the extra power of a 2.8L Duramax Turbo-Diesel 4-cylinder engine.
Performance
Base models with the 2.5L engine offer a horsepower of 200 and a torque of 191lb-ft. Other models and vehicles with the 3.6L engine offer 308-horsepower and a torque of 275lb-ft. Trucks that use the power of the Duramax engine also include 181-horsepower and 369lb-ft of torque. 2022 Silverado 1500 Interior Features
Chevy’s famous full-sized pickup has a diverse selection of interior options to choose from. They range from a functional setup that’s perfect if you’re looking for a work truck for the job site, to a more upscale cabin where your family and friends can relax in comfort. Here’s a quick guide to the Silverado 1500’s various interior features across its trim lineup.
2022 Silverado 1500 Trims

For 2022, Chevy sells the Silverado 1500 in seven trims: Work Truck, Custom, LT, Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, and High Country. The Trail Boss is really a sub-trim, since it’s available either as a Custom Trail Boss or LT Trail Boss, and has a similar interior to each of them.
If you’re unsure about which trim to choose, you’ll first need to consider what your main reason for buying the Silverado is. If it’s to get the job done at work, the Work Truck or Custom trims will probably do just fine. However, if you’re planning on using your Chevy as a family vehicle, you may want to add some interior luxury to the cabin by checking out the higher trims, starting with the LT.
In addition to the Silverado’s trims, there are several special editions you can opt for to create a specific design. One example of this is the Texas Edition, which includes larger wheels and some unique styling elements associated with the Loan Star State.
Silverado 1500 Work Truck and Custom
You have two options for the Work Truck’s (WT) cabin. The first is the Regular cab, which provides you with seating for three people on a single bench seat. This is a good choice if you want the longest cargo bed for transporting equipment. The second option is the larger Double Cab, which can seat up to six people across two rows.
Whichever cab you choose, the WT comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery and manually adjustable seats. In terms of infotainment, you can look forward to a seven-inch screen, and smart phone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The main safety feature offered in the base trim is Teen Driver, which allows you to restrict how your Silverado is used so young drivers can learn safely.
The Custom trim gives you the option of the Double Cab or Crew Cab. Both can seat six people, but the Crew Cab has a lot more legroom for the rear row. So if you regularly transport adult passengers in the second row, the Crew Cab is probably the right call.
The Silverado 1500 Custom’s interior features cloth upholstery. There are some additional entertainment features to take note of, including satellite radio, a wireless hot spot, and a six-speaker stereo. The Custom also benefits from more safety features, such as cruise control and a Rear Seat Reminder.
Silverado LT and Trail Boss
The LT’s cabin gets a few additional upscale touches, such as heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The driver also benefits from a power-adjustable seat. A huge infotainment screen measuring 13.4 inches is included, while the automatic climate control ensures that the cabin stays at a comfortable temperature during your journey. Finally, you get a 12-inch digital instrument cluster so you can monitor your Chevy’s performance on the road.
The Silverado’s Trail Boss sub-trims add a considerable amount of off-road technology, including hill descent control, improved suspension, and a two-speed transfer case. However, their interiors are much the same as the Custom and LT trims. The one difference is that the LT Trail Boss is only available with the larger Crew Cab.
Silverado 1500 RST and LTZ
The RST’s interior is largely modeled on the LT’s cabin, with the main differences between the two trims on the exterior. The Silverado RST does have a couple interior upgrades, including LED cargo-bed lighting and remote start.
The LTZ is only available with the Crew Cab. Its interior takes luxury to the next level, with ventilated front seats and heated rear-row seats. On top of that, you also get genuine leather upholstery. The addition of a power outlet to the cargo bed can come in handy for work or recreation.
The LTZ also boasts a number of driver safety features. You gain front and rear parking sensors, which can make it a lot easier for you to maneuver your Silverado in and out of tight parking spots. Rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring are also included.
If you purchase the LTZ trim, you have the choice to opt for some package upgrades. With the LTZ Premium package, you gain a seven-speaker stereo, wireless device charging, and a navigation system. Several safety upgrades are also available, including a surround-view parking camera, which provides you with an aerial view of your Silverado on your screen so you can park with confidence.
Silverado 1500 High Country
The High Country is the Silverado’s range-topping trim, so it’s hardly surprising that it shows off the most sumptuous interior. It features several unique styling elements, and includes many of the optional features in the LTZ, such as the premium stereo and navigation system, as standard offerings.
We hope that our overview of the Silverado’s extensive range of interior features for 2022 has helped you decide which trim level is the best option for you. Before you make a final decision, keep in mind that not all trim levels are available with every combination of cargo bed and cab, or with all of the power train options. You should investigate these options before you make up your mind on the most appropriate trim level for your requirements.
If you’re having difficulty deciding on which Silverado trim to choose, we’d be happy to provide you with our knowledgeable advice. Our team of Chevy experts has a thorough knowledge of this pickup and its features, putting us in a strong position to help you determine which setup is best suited to your requirements. You can contact us today to get some advice or ask any other questions about the Silverado 1500 you may have. A power tilt and telescoping steering column comes standard, along with ventilated front seats.
The AT4 adds other standard safety features, including a safety alert seat with vibrating pulses. The AT4 features a Bose premium sound system with a woofer and seven speakers. Wireless charging and three years of GMC Connected Services are standard features on the AT4 trim.

The AT4X comes outfitted with additional features to help you stay protected on the road. A bed view camera provides a view of the cargo bed, and a rear camera mirror offers a wider view of the area behind the vehicle than the traditional rearview mirror. HD surround vision provides an overhead image of the area around the vehicle. Standard safety features not included with previous models include rear cross traffic braking, rear pedestrian alert, a trailer side zone blind alert, and front and rear park assist.
Denali
The Sierra Denali features many of the same standard interior comforts as the ATX4, including a bed view camera and HD surround vision.
